Mabel L. Issacs

Mabel L. Isaacs, 89, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:15 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2008, at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Mabel had worked as a hand sewer at Country Set for eighteen years.  She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.

She was born June 26, 1918, at Old Du Quoin, the daughter of Arthur V. and Dora (Neville) Scarber.

She married Louis "Coondog" Isaacs on April 17, 1936, at Chester, and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2000.

She is survived by two daughters - June Terry and husband James of Du Quoin and JoAnn Lemmons of Du Quoin, one son - Howard Isaacs and wife Carol of Pinckneyville, one half sister - Wanda Miller of Lake Odessa, Mich., eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister - Altheda Caraker, two brothers - Howard Scarber and Herman Scarber, three half brothers, one half sister, one grandson, one son-in-law, and one grandson-in-law.

Per Mrs. Isaacs' request, there will be no visitation or services.  Cremation and interment will be at a later date.

Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
